Sridevi in and as Banjaran (1991): Title role for a Bollywood Queen: The costume caper: Sri in glittering black and gold

Yet another title role for the Queen of Bollywood.

Though it was no great shakes at the box office during its time of release back in 1991, the internet statistics show that the film has a cult following. Some of the songs of the film have over 160 million views!! 

Go figure.

Sridevi in and as Banjaran... Double roles, title roles, top billing, equal pay (if not more!), Sridevi was ahead of her time. Why, she even had the definitive momager long before the Kardashians did. 

The Diwali release of 1991 (8 Nov, 1991 to be precise), the film opened well. Mixed reports about whether the movie was a hit or flop  - depends which report you read. We do note on social media that the movie has legions of fans from around the globe - esp in Russia. Personally, not a fav Sridevi film....  but it sure has its takers.

Keep an eye on the stats for the songs of the film; the numbers are staggering! Over 100 million, 160 million views on the songs! Incredible!
